How many lashes are applied for extensions?

Eyelash extensions stick to individual eyelashes, so a “complete set” really differs from person to person. On average, people can have between 90 and 150 eyelashes per eye on the upper eyelid and between 70 and 80 smaller eyelashes per eye on the lower eyelash line. Multiple lashes are applied to a single natural eyelash individually, isolating a natural eyelash at a time with very fine lashes. If two eyelash extensions are applied to a natural eyelash, it is described as 2D, if three eyelash extensions are applied to a natural eyelash, it is described as 3D, etc.

Megavolume lashes are a newer and more advanced type of eyelash with volume. This style uses very light and thin extensions to create a more complete look. Each high-volume fan uses 6 to 16 false eyelashes with diameters between 0.03 and 0.05 mm. Volume lashes, on the other hand, are thinner eyelash extensions made in the shape of a fan that consist of 2 to 10 eyelashes per fan.

Each fan is applied to an individual natural eyelash. For customers who are new to the beauty of eyelash extensions, it's helpful to have a series of questions to ask to determine what type of eyelashes your client will love. This will help you and your stylist determine the best custom eyelash creation for you, one that is safe and enhances your natural eyelashes. When applying a high volume fan, you must ensure that the fan is only applied to a natural eyelash and that it is not sticky (this is true for any application).

However, customers should ensure that their eyelash stylist has the necessary experience and practice before proceeding with a mega-volume set. After talking to the previous customer, I gave her a daily volume set that wouldn't damage her eyelashes and would maintain her design after 3 weeks. Then, fill in teenagers' eyelashes with a shorter length and a smaller weight, complementing the natural lashes. In the image below, you can compare a client of mine without eyelash extensions, with a set of natural volumes and with a set of divine volumes.

The mega-volume makes insulation difficult because the base of the lash line becomes too thick with all the fans. As expert eyelash artists know, every client will have different eyelash extension needs due to their own unique natural lashes. A full set of eyelash extensions usually takes 2 to 3 hours to apply, but it may vary slightly depending on the number of natural eyelashes you have, the method of application and the look of eyelashes you choose. In the photo below, you can see that the stylist had completely filled ALL of the natural lashes, including the baby's lashes.

The diameter you use and the number of eyelashes you have in each range you use will depend on your client's natural eyelashes and the desired look. The experience of working with different types of natural eyelashes and the number of clients they have served (full time, part time or occasional) also affects how quickly the eyelash professional becomes adept at applying eyelashes.
